New Mercies Every Morning

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. Lam 3:22-23

There is something about a morning sunrise breaking through the darkness that captivates our attention. Even a momentary ray of sunlight shining through the slightest crack in a dark stormy sky is able to inspire new hope and optimism within a dreary soul. There are times when hope appears unexpectedly and out of nowhere, to change the horizon of one’s life. Like the rising sun, we have new hope available every day through the mercies of God. The scripture passage declares to us that we need not despair and distress but to have hope because “of the Lord’s mercies…because of His compassions…they are new every morning.” Each day the child of God can rise to live for a gospel of mercy, not guilt. God desires that His children start anew and fresh every day, filled with the joy of His salvation, renew by the confession and forgiveness of sin, restored to the bright hope of fellowship with their Heavenly Father, the God of peace. My friend, arise each morning and choose your direction for the day. Choose to join with the angelic voices in heaven and join with all creation to offer praise to the unfailing God, the God of all mercy, and the faithful and true God. Choose to “rejoice and be glad” (Ps 70:4). Choose to “serve the Lord” (Josh 24:15). Choose to “love the Lord with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength” (Lk 10:27). Dear friend, lift your eyes unto the Lord and step into the light of hope to receive the Lord’s new mercies and His unfailing compassions that “the God of peace shall be with you” (Phil 4:9) and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb 13:5). Then you will proclaim Him with all your heart “Great is Thy faithfulness.” Father thank You for Your love and Your faithfulness to provide new mercies every morning. I will “be glad and rejoice with all (my) heart” (Zeph 3:14). In the blessed Name of Jesus. Amen.
