Nevertheless, At Thy Word!

Good morning; I often thank God for the lessons we learn from Peter’s boldness and obedience to the Lord Jesus. “And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word, I will let down the net” “Luke 5:5). Peter was the professional fisherman, and He had fished all night and had caught nothing. And Jesus begins to teach by the lake, and when the crowds came, Jesus entered Peter’s boat and began to teach; Jesus used Peter’s boat as a pulpit. Jesus told Peter to “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught”. The instructions from Jesus did not make sense to Peter; Peter had worked those waters, he knew the fish were not biting on that day. But Peter obeyed Jesus and stated four of the most powerful words to humanity, “nevertheless at thy word”. Are we willing to follow God’s Word even when things do not make sense to us, are we willing to follow Jesus’ Word even when we think we know better? The blessings of God only come from obedience to His Word. “And when they had this done, they inclosed a GREAT MULTITUDE OF FISHES: and their net brake.” (v.6). My friend, life becomes easier; and we reap the blessings of God as we follow the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit of God. Gracious Lord, I pray this morning that we would have the same attitude as those boys in the boat, ” Nevertheless at thy word”. Let your Word be true and every man a liar. Be Blessed in Jesus’ Name!
